Abstract: The most expensive property in Washington State has just entered the market for a staggering $75 million.

Located on San Juan Island, the estate known as Halftide Farms sits on 87 acres with incredible views of the Salish Sea and Mount Baker.

The property features five different homes, each with its own guest cottage, a custom built property with a sports court, a cabana with an outdoor kitchen, and a putting green.

And, naturally, there's plenty more.

"It's a family compound and each home averages around 4,000 square feet," says listing agent, Tere Foster of Compass Bellevue." Nothing has been left out of these homes. They share a common area that includes two swimming pools, a tennis court, a Pickleball court and four ponds - some of which are used for irrigation."

Despite the price tag, so is the property, which is set up for family gatherings.

There's a 3,200-square-foot four-bedroom bunkhouse designed for kids; a four-bedroom field house; a 4,200-square-foot three-bedroom beach house; a 2,600-square-foot three-bedroom caretaker's house; and a storage building with a playroom on the upper level and maintenance equipment on the lower level.

The original three-bedroom house on the lot was built in 1994.

It really is a family compound," says Foster.

There are four lots totalling 90 acres with 600 feet of water frontage.

"San Juan Island is a fabulous place," Foster noted." It can be reached by plane, boat or ferry. It is close to Canada and gets less rain and more sunshine than Seattle. The island's population is only about 6,000. There are restaurants, a cinema and a grocery shop. It's not on the ocean, it's protected in a sound area, so people come here from all over the world to take boats because it's very smooth sailing and a very popular boating spot".

She said the property was "immaculately maintained" and was ready for occupation.

"It's really plug and play," she says, "for those who don't want to make any changes." Everything has been kept in very good condition and it is ready for a family to enjoy this summer."

The original owner of the property was the late Barry Ackerley, who once owned the Seattle Super Sonics and Seattle Storm basketball franchises. His family has owned the beautiful compound for three generations.

"The property has been a second home for this family," says Foster, "but it certainly could have been a primary residence." Most of the people who have seen it own multiple properties around the world. I think the next buyer will be looking for a multi-generational property. I do believe this family will be replaced by another family looking for a special place outside the city where they can create great family memories."
