Abstract: There's no doubt that there are a lot of straight lines inside this mid-century modern home in Westchester County, New York. The angular home even had a role in a popular film.

The hexagonal home was built in 1966 and has had only one owner. The property was listed for $999,000 in early August and attracted multiple buyers in just a few days. The listing is now off the market.

There are a lot of people who like the mid-century modern style, said listing agent Sharon Bodnar Briskman, who co-represented the home with Nancy Beard, both of Houlihan Lawrence BriarCliff Manor Brokers, Inc. BriarCliff Manor Brokerage).

The house consists of four hexagons that form three distinct living spaces: living, sleeping and utilities.

"I think that's my favourite thing about it, it separates all the areas," says Bodnar Briskman." It's aesthetically pleasing and has shape and style."

There are five bedrooms and four full bathrooms, most of which are located in a hexagonal area dedicated to sleeping.

Beard notes, "I think they planned this house very cleverly because they were ahead of their time." Planned into this wonderful hexagonal layout are a number of spaces that accommodate office space, private space, and utility space that you wouldn't necessarily expect.

The vaulted ceilings at the entrance of the home are a sight to behold.

Beard says, "When you walk into the home, people are blown away by the front entryway. You look up and your eyes fly to this hexagon, and this incredible light fixture fits perfectly with it."

The living room's hexagonal ceilings are 12 feet high and connect to the adjacent dining area.

According to the listing agent, everything in the house is relatively well preserved.

Beard said, "The homeowners have maintained it and the mechanical equipment was done in the 1990s."

They certainly used good materials in its construction. The house is their pride and joy and the materials they used have stood the test of time.

Glass sliding doors and large windows lead from the living area to the nearly 1-acre estate, which borders a country club and a wooded area.

Bodnar Briskman says, "It's a beautiful setting."

You have a magnificent frontage, it's long and wide, and you have a very large driveway. There's a gorgeous hexagonal patio in the back.

Beard said the driveway and the house's distance from the street attracted location surveyors for the 2007 Ridley Scott film American Gangster. The home of Detective Tupper, played by actor Josh Brolin, is set against the backdrop of the house.

Beard says, "It's his home, and his most prized car is parked in the driveway." The star detectives drove down the street and saw the house and the way it warped off the road, and they liked the look so much they picked it.
