Built in 1955 and priced at $1 million, this home in Fountain City, Wisconsin, has recently undergone a major renovation.
And there's no need to worry about renovations: all the furnishings come with this 2,540-square-foot home.
"The mid-century style will really pop because the seller is a collector of items and really curated the home with the items that fit it best," says Noel Krueger, an agent with Edina Real Estate - Grand Avenue.
The vintage home sits on four acres and many of the rooms overlook the Mississippi River below.
"When I'm there, I can sit and look out the window or stand on one of the balconies or decks and look out over the water and see all the different birds and wildlife, and it's very peaceful and relaxing," Krueger said.
The seller bought the place in 2020 for $359,900 and he is only the third owner.
"It actually needed quite a bit of love when I first helped him purchase it," Krueger explained." The seller had invested a lot of time, energy and money over the past few years. He saw its potential and was really able to bring it to life."
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom house is made primarily of concrete and steel.
"It's a really solid and well-built house," says Kruger, adding that neighbours call it a "bunker house" because of the building materials and the fact that it is built into stone walls.
In addition to choosing the perfect period furniture, the sellers remodelled the bathrooms, restored the floors, replaced the trim panels, upgraded the plumbing and wiring, and more.
"The [furniture] pieces add a lot of value, and the market has definitely pushed things up a bit over the last few years," Krueger says of the list price." But really, that's what he's done to make it look glorious and beautiful."
Krueger said the owner, a landscaper, did a lot of outdoor improvements.
"The house basically goes into the cliff, so it's all limestone and woodland," he said." You have a huge patio and deck space with about three different places where you can entertain guests and enjoy being outside looking straight at the river."
Kruger said the move-in ready home could be used as a retreat or a short-term rental. But the seller has always lived in the property full time.
"It's right on the river bluff, so you can spend all your time boating, fishing, that sort of thing; and you can get to the marina easily," he says, noting that there are riverside towns with shopping and restaurants nearby." If you want to get away, it's a great place to be."
